Nail Art Challenge: Disney Villains

Over at Temptalia.com there was a post about submitting an entry for nail art depicting a Disney Villain.  I had already done The Queen of Hearts so I decided to do another one of my favorites!

I used these pics as my "inspiration"...
"The Little Mermaid"

 w/ Flotsam & Jetsam

Here are my rough sketches out on paper first (top right is Ursula as Vanessa in her wedding gown/hair wet)

I submitted my entry on Tues the 24th... not sure when or if they will post on her site, I will let you guys know!  Not sure if I should even post here but I read nothing that said I couldn't... so..... without further ado:

The souls in her lair & bubbles

I didn't write down what colors I used so I might have to add/fix this later but from memory:

Base color: OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight
Zoya Kendall, Zoya Dove, Zoya ?
Barielle Pearly White, Barielle Green Opal
Mira ?
Avon ?
Sally Hansen Insta Dry- Grape Going!
Kiss stripers: Black & White & Dotting Tool

I just painted in steps & took my sweet time!!!  Hope you like :)  It was a lot of fun doing this!  I enjoy a challenge!!!

ALSO: I want to thank you all for your comments/feedback-
  1.  I will try to list polishes used more on pics
  2. I will show more step-by-steps (or video tutorial)
  3. More Haul Posts (Trust me one is coming- I've refrained from any polish this month!!!!!!)
And if you'd like to challenge me with something: Nail Art or Technique- please leave me a comment below with what you'd like to see me do!

Thanks all xox

Glitter Giveaway!!!!

Hi Everyone!!

This will be my very first giveaway... Hope you win!! ;-)

Onto the prizes....
I just received my Girly Bits order, so I'm giving away a mini bottle of Hippity Hop!!  If you missed out on this... here is your chance to win one!
Description: Multi colored pastel and holo & tiny purple glitter,  in a translucent sparkling purple base.
It's like little holo Easter eggs.

I also have for one lucky winner a bottle of Barielle's Starchild and this one is a stunner!  It is a "dupe" for NCLA Hollywood Hits Hot Number and in my opinion, a little prettier for half the cost!  Just FYI.
Description: A mix of different sized Hex Silver holo glitters in a clear base.

(CLICK PICS TO SEE BIGGER)

(Sorry bunny not included)

The contest will run for a week (+ a bit cause this post is late) and end 4/12/12.  I will announce who won, Fri the 13th!

Good Luck!!!

Girly Girl Challenge Day 5: Gotta Love Chick Flicks

I'm not much of a "chick flick" kind of girl... I love comedies & horror!!  But I remember going to see City of Angels with my BFF (1998) when it came out and it was definitely a tear-jerker!

There is a striking scene early in "City of Angels," where all the angels who live unseen in our midst, gather at the beach to watch the sun rise. The camera moves above them, showing the endless rows of ethereal men and women, all garbed in black. Then the camera moves in on the face of Seth, an angel played by Nicolas Cage, and as the sun rises, he smiles and his entire face lights up. You see, the angels can hear music in sunrises and sunsets, but they cannot feel a human touch.

I'm sorry this post is late - This was done extremely quick as I have been swamped at work!!!  Also broke my middle finger nail :(  This isn't my proudest work!

I used:
ChinaGlaze: Thataway
Revlon: Peach Smoothie
Sinful: Let's Meet
Barielle: Pearly White
Black Nail Art Striper

I just layered on the colors and swirled them around, no fancy technique...

Check out everyone's blogs to see what they've done!

Girly-Girl Challenge, Day 2: Gimme That Bling

Are you hungry?? Cause I made a jelly sandwich!!!  10 of them to be exact!!! LOL

Inside with Window Light:

"Jellin Like A Felon"

I have been wanting to try this technique out for awhile now.  I forget exactly where I saw it first but never-the-less, it was on my "To Do One Day" list!

Outside Light:

Here is THE BLING close up!!

Sooooo... if you don't know what a "jelly sandwich" is yet- it's where you start with a base coat of a jelly nail polish, a couple other polishes if you wish, glitter, then apply the jelly on top encasing the glitter!

I used:
Barielle's Elle's Spell (for the base) - a red flakie jelly
Revlon's Watermelon Fizz  (SMELLS SO GOOD) & NCLA's Hollywood It-Girl (glittery pink)
then,
Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S-Kylie (clear base w/ multi colored Hex glitter)
& then,
Barielle's Elle's Spell (on top)

Topped it off with CND Super Shiny Top Coat!

I apologize- I don't have the greatest of cameras for close ups!! :(

But, I hope you liked my version!!  Now, go check out all the other lovelies participating in this challenge!!

Barielle Review - Picture Overload!!

"Swatchy Goodness"

Today I'm reviewing 3 Barielle Nail Polishes...Green Opal *New*, Joytini & Snapdragon.

First up....

Joytini is such a beautiful shade!!!  It's cantaloupe in color and I could just eat my fingernails!!!  This shade just makes me happy and makes me yearn for Spring/Summer so bad!  Bring on warm weather!!!
It went on smooth and applied 2 coats.  I used CND Super Shiney Top Coat & Nicole Drying Drops over this.

I decided throw this glitter bomb on my tips, it's NCLA's Hollywood Hits Hot Number!  So Sparkly!!!!  Love this finished look!!

Next up...

Snapdragon, a green with a pearl like finish.  This pic was taken indoors under a lamp.  Only one good coat was needed.

Then I decided to add what else- Glitter.  I got this one off of Chelsea's blog sale

Spoiled: Pet My Peacock

This looks awesome over snapdragon!!  It's got blue, purple, silver, gold, green colors in a clear base- It was thick going on, but the end result was worth it!!

Lastly...

Is this gem!  From the Gemstone Earth Collection...

Green Opal!  This is a bit opaque so it needed 2 coats!

But be careful doing so because it got a bit thick...

It is so shimmery in the sun!!  It's definitely a gorgeous olive/gold color!

The inside lighting shows it more muted but still lovely... a very earthy color.  And nothing extra was needed, this just "glows".

Barielle has added some new colors too, so go take a look and see what you want to try next!!!
Check out those jelly's with foil flakies!!!

BLUE Mondays: Barielle; *Falling STAR*

Barielle Falling Star is a very pretty blue with copper flecks/sparkles throughout.  I really love this polish but I don't like the consistency.  It was very thick going on, almost "gloppy"..  It took 2 coats and a top coat of SV to set it off.  I guess I'm definitely going to buy Nail polish thinner now b/c I really do like this... just want to make the process a bit smoother!!
(Click for bigger Pics)

On another note, this came in the mail really quick.  I think I got it the very next day, or day after- it was that quick!! Whoo-hoo!!!
